I'm beyond excited to share with you that my newest album, the 5-song EP "Love and a Gun" will be available for download and purchase March 22nd at all online retailers, and we're kicking off the album release with a very intimate show at Brick 15 in Del Mar on March 25th. I can't wait to share it with you - 5 new songs that are deeply personal to me, and I hope will resonate with you as well.
Like the title suggests, Love and a Gun is a mixture of mellow and massive, sweetness and steel, and within a short 20 minutes, takes you on quite the journey from a super-pumping electric guitar-laden blaster of an opening, to a heartfelt acoustic and string arrangement of the title track, to a stripped down acoustic tender love song about my kids, to a couple down-right blue-eyed soul retro groovers that will leave you asking, "When did Tiernan start channeling Al Green?"
The songs are for anyone who has been as perplexed as I am by the past couple years of world events, trying to forage some hope in an often dark landscape; the songs are for parents and lovers and people struggling to build something beautiful of their lives.
The release concert is sure to please - I've chosen not to do a big club-type release, but am going back to my folk-ish roots, in a room where music is at the center, and the songs have the space and atmosphere to connect. Brick 15 is an amazing space in Del Mar, and I sure hope to see you there! Tickets are going fast, so make sure to grab some! We will most likely add a second show - stay tuned!!
I've also begun production on the next EP project as well, and I have a ton of great projects on the horizon for 2017, including a new duo project that debuted this past January at the Belly Up Tavern, called Parker Tiernan, a collaboration between myself and one of my favorite singer/songwriters in town, Christine Parker.
